In memory of

Patricia Irene Rutherford

December 24, 1946 -  June 3, 2023

A full life, well lived. Forty-two years of faithful marriage to David, office work at Sears, then childcare courses and work with children at Bloor Street United Church Nursery Centre and Palmerston Daycare. How Patricia loved children, and loved spending time fellowshipping with friends. Over the years, David and Patricia hosted a Knox Bible study, belonged to Messianic prayer groups, and latterly were part of Church on the Queensway. They had warm relations with neighbours and cousins, David’s sister Mary and her son Jesse. Those many relationships have held strong through the years.
Patricia loved and trusted the Lord Jesus and walked with Him through all the struggles, joys and crises of life. Such a good listener, a woman who always felt deeply for others’ troubles, and rejoiced with them in the good times.
After six months of cancer treatments, Patricia was moved to Baycrest for end-of-life care. So many came to say goodbye to one who loved deeply and was loved in return.
Memorial service in Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, on June 29th. Visitation at 10:30 a.m., Service at 11:00, followed by reception and interment of ashes.
If wished, donations may be made in Patricia's memory to a charity of your choice.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
I Corinthians 13:12

I am so sorry that Patricia had to leave so quickly, but I am glad that she is in a much better place. Being in our Lord's presence with no more suffering.
My thoughts are with David and I pray the Lord will give him strength and peace during this time .

Patricia and I have been special friends since we were in grade 1 in Elmsdale, PEI. When I first moved to Toronto in 1968 I lived with her, her parents, brother, and sister for about a year. They were such a special part of my life.
I can't even begin to imagine my life without Patricia, but she will always be in my heart and in my thoughts. I will be forever grateful for our loving friendship over so many years.
May you rest in peace in the arms of our dear Lord, Patricia. I will love you always.

I have many fond memories of our dear Patricia. She was a caring, sensitive, and generous person. As a child, I remember visiting Patricia and David’s home with my parents, Erika and Dan Reicher, on many occasions. Patricia was always a gracious host and an excellent cook. Her puréed carrot soup was my favourite dish and I remember playing with her cats after dinner in the TV room while the adults would sit around the dining room table and talk. She will be missed by many but lived a full life! May her memory be blessed!

Although it has been many years since Patricia and I have seen one another, I have many fond memories of her and David from Knox Presbyterian Church! Her soft mannerisms and sweet and loving smile made everyone near her feel very special!
I am so sorry for your loss David! When my mom passed away last September a friend reminded me that she had just changed addresses! This brought me peace as I pray it does you.
My deepest condolences
Natalie
