In memory of

Oliver Vasic

1952 - 2021

Carole is deeply saddened to announce the loss of Oliver Vasic who passed away at home, on August 2nd, 2021, in his 68th year. Oliver was Carole's beloved husband and best friend. Living with and loving each other for 15 wonderful years, they supported each other with passion and dedication. Oliver was the son of the late Aleksandar Vasic and the late Natalija Stokic; step-son of the late Danilo Drobnjakovic; step--brother of the late Miroslav Drobnjakovic; nephew and cousin of the Vasic and Drobnjakovic families. Oliver was also the adored son-in-law of Leah Riopel - Rousseau; brother-in-law of Manon Rousseau and the late Joanne Rousseau-Szabo; uncle, nephew and cousin on Carole's maternal and paternal family sides; loyal friend of many.

Oliver loved life and “to laugh often and much”. Carole has many, many beautiful memories, stories and anecdotes of the wonderful life she lived with Oliver. She will always remember and continue to apply his caring life philosophy to 'Listen and Love'. Oliver built a career inspiring and helping others as an accomplished teacher; he was cherished by all his students. As one student once said , “ A day with Mr. Vasic is a (school) trip every day! “. Oliver had a fighting spirit filled with resiliency, humbleness, calming energy, and love. He enjoyed fishing, playing soccer and many other sports in which he won numerous awards. He composed exciting and lively music and played various musical instruments. He enjoyed making films. Oliver had an avid passion and made significant contributions to the scientific belief of possible life beyond our planet Earth through social media. During the last several years, Oliver dealt with declining health but never lost his good sense of humour and liveliness. Oliver was indeed, an honourable man. May he Rest in Peace. Ce n'est qu'un 'au revoir', mon amour. Bio je castan covek. Neka pociva u miru.

An Outdoor Funeral Service will be held in Oliver’s memory on Friday, August 20th at 1:00 pm in Section 22 Plot 885 of York Cemetery. Guests who wish to join are encouraged to meet Carole at the front entrance of York Funeral Centre at 12:45, allowing us to process to the cemetery plot together. Carole greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time.

Carole, my heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

Oliver had a way with people, which is no surprise considering his long and fulfilling career as a teacher. Some might think he was shaped by his craft but I prefer to think that Oliver was born a caring and charismatic person. He applied his love for others to teaching and changed the lives of those he interacted with.

I have fond memories of Oliver and remember most of all his smile and ease with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family.

May Oliver's radiant soul be at peace and always be in our hearts.
