In memory of

Olive Florence MacAlpine

March 31, 1933 -  April 14, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of a remarkable lady, Olive MacAlpine, on April 14, 2020, with loved ones at her side. Her family was her everything. Loving wife of the late Richard MacAlpine, proud mother of Debbie (Stewart), Donna (Merv), Diane (Dwayne) and Danny (Karin); beloved sister to Fred (Marian); second mother to Trish (Andre); adored grandmother to Stephanie (Richard), Michele (Aaron), Bryon (Nicole), Jason, Justin (Katherine), Brett (Brittany), Amanda (Keith), Joshua (Karlee), Matthew (Cassie), Danielle, Tyler (Alex), Jessica and Michael; extremely proud great grandmother of Connor, Selene, Chloe, Cheyanne, Caleb (aka George), Owen, Gavin, Charlee, Jaxon, Brielle, Easton, and Hailey; second grandmother to Spencer and Molly, and best friend to Gracie.
We are so grateful we were able to honor mom’s wishes of her staying in her own home until the end thanks to Diane. Diane took a leave of absence from work and left her family for 6 months to provide “second to none” care for mom.
Mom was very proud of her career as a “Corrections Officer” at York Detention Centre (311 Jarvis) for 34 years where she developed a lot of great friendships and fond memories.
Mom was an inspiration to many and a true definition of love and generosity. Her memory will live on and she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Ting, Marjorie Wang and Moe and John Leonard for taking such great care of our mom.
As a result of the current circumstances, a celebration of mom’s life will be held at a later date - TBD.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be very much appreciated.
