In memory of

Olga Mergler

September 26, 1930 -  August 15, 2022

MERGLER, Olga M.
Passed away peacefully in her 92nd year on 15 August 2022.
Olga will be lovingly remembered by her children, Paul (Sheila), Sandy (Tod), and Sonya (Dave), and by her grandchildren, Alison and Graham. She was the cherished sister of Gwendolyn (Jack), Marion (Bill), and Max (Donna). She will be missed by her nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. A special mention must be made for the love and support provided by her caregiver, Marilyn, and to the staff at Advent Valleyview Residence.
Olga was an amazing mother, who provided love, laughter - in her own unique way - and support to her family throughout her life. She was a dedicated, passionate and gifted grade school teacher for the North York Board of Education for many years, and continued her own education by getting her BA from York University while in her late 50s. A terrific cook, Olga was known for her apple pies and dumplings, and saved her best for the big celebrations: Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a lover of pets, especially her cats; and was crazy about swimming. The backyard pool was probably her true happy place.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Olga are asked to please consider the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ontariospca.ca).

As one of Olga’s occasional students, I’m certain she questioned her choice of career as a supply teacher after a day with me in her class.
As I got to know her outside of school through my friendship with Paul, I learned to love her laugh. It was very unique to say the least.
Although I hadn’t seen her for a number of years, she will be missed.
RIP Olga.

Olga was so beautiful, I would see her at her Moms place in Harrietsville.
My heart aches for her family, their monarch is at rest now.
