Norbert was dedicated and professional and respected in his work. We met in 1974 through our work as engineers in Meadowvale.Norbert was the consulting engineer and I was the client.
We worked well together as our tempraments and sense of humour were very much alike.Norbert wrestled for weeks over the design of Lake Aquitaine and the morning glory intake following which he won the national award for the best storm detention facility design in Canada.
He liked to introduce our family as their first Canadian friends and we reciprocated by adding the Stibrany,s were our first Slovak friends. In recent years he would call frequently to talk about the stock market and the conversation humoured us both.We have fond memories of first dining with our wives and drinking enough wine to see double on the way home.
Later in life Norbert,s advice to me was Don.t Back Up.
We are very saddened at his loss and will always miss him.

Always respected his intellect and enjoyed our conversations.
While we did not always agree, I will miss him.

My life has crossed paths with Norbert on Polus project in Bratislava. This Logic and Gravity based relationship made us value each other based on results, not on words.
I will remember Norbert as man of minimal emotions, maximum thought and well hidden care for what mattered.
Norbert's lessons are his legacy, they will be part of us until we join him. Whenever I use them, I see the iconic "micro smile" where the care slipped out.
