In memory of

Noemia Baptista

January 4, 1952 -  April 6, 2021

The Baptista family is saddened to announce the loss of Noemia, who passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2021 at Etobicoke General Hospital in her 69th year. Beloved wife to Joseph for 44 wonderful years. Proud mother to Caleb and Seth. Loving sister to Joe, Noah, Sam and Leontina. Noemia will also be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, and her loving dog Ellie. Noemia is predeceased by Joseph Batista.

As many know Naomi was born in a small town in Portugal with not much to her family’s name. At the age of 11 Her entire family immigrated to Stoughton, Massachusetts in the United States. Not knowing how to speak or write English she struggled to keep up with the other students in her grade. At home she cared for your younger brother Sam due to her parents working two shifts to take care of the family.

Once she entered high school she graduated with honors and found her passion for nutrition. Soon after she was given the option to attend Harvard, but due to financing decided to attend Atlantic Union College instead where she graduated with a bachelor’s in nutrition.

Once meeting her loving husband Joseph and moving to Toronto to start her wonderful family with two boys, she found work at North York Branson Hospital where she first started in the kitchen preparing meals for the patients. Shortly after she was giving the chance to be a diet technician where she found her passion to not only feed the needy but pursue her passion for nutrition. She worked there for 26 years until the government decided to close the hospital. She was very sad, but god had a plan for her. Within 3 months’ time the job of her dreams, working for the seventh day Adventist nursing home opened and she was giving the title food service manager. This is where she touched most of the people that today are sadden by her passing. At the age of 66 Noemia decide it was time to retire and her loving husband as well followed. Noemia was loved by many and will always be in our hearts and our minds.

A Visitation in Noemia’s memory will be held on Saturday April 10th from 10-1 pm at Igreja Adventista Portuguesa De Toronto, 280 Carlingview Drive, Etobicoke. For those that cannot attend there will be a Live Stream available via Facebook Live on Seth Baptista’s Facebook Page on April 10th. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 pm at York Cemetery, Section 7, 160 Beecroft Rd, Toronto. Due to the COVID-19, capacity will be limited to 15%, so we kindly ask that you wait in your vehicles until capacity in the church allows. Furthermore, a maximum of 50 people are permitted to be in attendance at the Graveside Service. The Baptista family greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time.
