In memory of

Nicoletta Anagnostopoulos

June 10, 1931 -  August 16, 2022

Nicoletta was born in Horemi, Greece on June 10th, 1931. In September 1957, she immigrated to Ottawa, Ontario. She married her husband, Ioannis, on July 3rd, 1960. They began a family of their own, later settling in Richmond Hill. Her home had an open-door policy, always offering those who knew her a welcoming space. Her dinner table constantly had an extra spot for guests, full of great food, homemade treats, and Greek coffee. She was known as Yiayia to friends, family, and neighbours, young and old. Her phone always rang with news from childhood friends and family from Greece, USA, and Canada. She was a kind and generous soul, full of gratitude.

Surrounded by family, Nicoletta passed peacefully in hospital on August 16th, 2022, at the age of 91. She will be dearly missed by her children Peter (Ellen) and Rina, grandchildren Angela (Ryan), Anthony (Katie), Nicholas and Alexis, and her great-grandchildren Eryx and Jace. She is survived by her brother Sam, brother-in-law Theodoros, sister-in-laws Constantina and Dimitra (Nick), many cousins, loving nieces, and nephews. She joins her husband Ioannis, and siblings Georgios, Panayiotis, Vasso, Athanasia, Angeliki, Maria, Dimitri, and Theodore in Heaven. Many thanks to the staff at Mackenzie Health for their kind and compassionate care.

Friends and relatives may join the visitation for Nicoletta at Saint Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church of Markham on Monday, August 22nd, 2022, at 10:00am. Mass will be held at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church of Markham or Mackenzie Health Hospital in Nicoletta’s name.

May her memory be eternal.

Our sincere sympathy to all of the family. Nicoletta always had her icing sugar cookies out on a plate to have with our coffee when we came over and a beautiful smile on her face. Thinking of all of you at this difficult time.

I have many years of fond memories spending time talking, laughing and drinking Greek coffee in the Anagnostopoulos home. Yiayia was always welcoming. She would make us our coffee, chat and laugh a bit and say,” go talk to Rina”. I wish I could hear her say that again… :( RIP Yia yia
