In memory of

Neechuck Wong

March 13, 1932 -  September 14, 2019

On Saturday, September 14, 2019, Neechuck Wong, loving husband and father of three children passed away at the age of 87.

Neechuck was born on March 13, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in March 1949. Life was not easy for a new Chinese immigrant at that time. He worked hard to advance his studies, learn English and support his family with summer jobs. He graduated from Ryerson Technological Institute and the University of Western Ontario with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked in hydro for most of his career providing his expertise to Etobicoke Hydro and Scarborough Hydro many years.

On October 23, 1965, he married his wife of 54 years, Kay. They went on to raise two daughters, Ida and Judy, and one son, Lyndon.

Neechuck had a passion for traditional Chinese medicine. He studied at the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated with a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner. He often was found brewing teas to help the ailments of his family and friends. He was also an avid Chinese calligrapher and enjoyed the art of creating Chinese writings. He will be best remembered for his love of telling stories, his advice, his devotion to his family and the Chinese soups he used to cook for dinner. He had a huge sweet tooth and one of his favourite desserts was apple strudel.

Neechuck is survived by his wife, Kay, his three children, Ida, Judy and Lyndon and his seven grandchildren.
