It is with profound sadness that the family of Neal Farquharson share the news of his passing on February 2, 2021.
Survived by his wife Christina, children Terri (Don), Sean (Carole), and Shannon (Andrew). He will be especially missed by his two grandchildren, Nash and Joel.
Neal is also survived by his mother Eileen, siblings Lorna (Daniel), Donald (Suzanne), David (Kathy), twin brother Eric (Christine), Richard (Carolyn), and John (Christine).
A special uncle to many nieces and nephews, and great uncle to their children.
Neal has been welcomed home by his late father Donald, and brother Robert.
Neal was born into a vibrant family from the West Rouge area in Scarborough, Ontario. He carved out a niche using his passion for music, and shared his gift as a musician and teacher to many aspiring students, retired from Jean Vanier HS (renamed Joan of Arc) in Scarborough. His social network included countless orchestra bandmates, and hockey league teammates.
In Neal’s home, the door was always open and the kettle was always on. Chris, Terri, Sean, and Shannon will ensure that this continues in his absence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to create a music scholarship fund for high school students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy. These donations can be made via interac to rememberingneal@protonmail.com
Neal’s life will be celebrated at a later date when family and friends can safely be together to properly commemorate this unforgettable person, the Music Man.
