It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the death of Mya Segal-Kawano, on November 29, 2016. Mya died in hospital accompanied by her family, at the age of 11 after a 2-year fight against Leukemia. She is survived by her brother Tye Segal-Kawano, as well as her parents Milane Segal and James Kawano.
Mya was a kind, strong and gentle soul who touched the hearts of so many. She was insightful, courageous and an independent thinker. She had great potential and was only beginning her life journey. Her favourite pastimes were art and cooking. Mya was athletic, loved animals, and appreciated nature. She loved to travel and longed to go back to Hawaii. She was truly the light of our world and will be so greatly missed.
We extend our gratitude to the team at Sick Kids Hospital who supported her and our family through her illness.
Please join us in sharing the memory of her life on December 6 with Shiva to follow for 7 nights at our home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated in memory of Mya at the Sick Kids Foundation to be directed to research in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in her name.
