Abe, Mitsuko Dorothy
“Mitzi” joined late husband Aki on his birthday, January 13 after 94+ wonderful years. She is missed by sons Doug (Karen) and Jim (Debbie), 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Jeannie (Foch). From her early days in Kitsilano she brought love and happiness to many. Teacher in the war years Internment camp, proprietor of the Gaiety Beauty Shoppe (social hub of the Gerrard St. gang), and prolific letter writer keeping far flung family members close. Her ever present Super 8 camera chronicled us growing up at every get-together. Mitzi gained proficiency in Sumie, Japanese brush painting, earning her own seal. She loved her weekly poker games, but never could bluff. True Blue Jay fan all the way through. Muse, anchor and loving supporter, Mitzi was special, and lives on in our hearts. Thanks to Dr. McCurrach and all the caregivers at Houses of Providence Cedar Wing for easing her final days. Friends may visit at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough on Sat. Jan 28 from 1 – 4 p.m. followed by a service at 4p.m. For sharing of condolences and memories please visit www.etouch.ca
