With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mirdza Hausmanis on February 9, 2024 at the age of 102 years. She was born in Bunkas parish, Latvia, to Janis and Anna Liepins. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, beloved husband Herberts, son Andris and brothers Imants and Valdemars. Loving mother to Imants (Lilita) and Janis (Anna). Cherished Nanny to her grandchildren Larisa (Michael), Kristina (Danny), Peter (Kathryn), Paul (Heather), Laura (Dan) and her great grandchildren Maija, Anna, Natalie, Julia, Leah, Evija, Charlotte, Kate, Teolis, and Max.
Mirdza will always be known for her warm smile and her generous nature. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone and always looked after the other person. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren for always giving.
For many years Mirdza was a member of the Women’s Auxilary at St.John Latvian Lutheran Church. On her 100th birthday she was proud to receive congratulatory letters from Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Governor General of Canada and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. As her health declined she moved from her home in Etobicoke to Kristus Darzs Latvian Home. Our family will always be grateful for the care and love she received from her live-in companion Valda Bleiksa and the team at Kristus Darzs.
Mirdza will be forever loved and missed by her family, relatives, friends and neighbours in Canada, Latvia, Australia and England.
