In memory of

Milija Budrevics

April 6, 1925 -  April 30, 2023

Milija Budrevics passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023 in her 99th year, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander, who passed away in April 2014. They were married for 66 years.

A feisty spirit to all who knew her, Milija will be remembered with love by her children Valdis with his wife Priscilla, Dace with her husband Andris and Arnis with his wife Jane. Also Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Astrid with her spouse Jamie, Aldis with his wife Lara, Krista with her husband Adrian and Aina with her husband Matthew. She was very fond of her greatgrandchildren Michelle and Victor (mother Melanie), Makena and Mija (mother Lara) and the youngest Eva (mother Aina). Her family was the centre of her existence. She will remain forever in the hearts of her relatives both in Canada and in Latvia.

Born Milija Vite, she was the youngest of four children of Roberts and Marta (nee Fišmans) in Riga, Latvia. Her older siblings Ludmilla, Morella and Edgars passed away many years ago.

Milija was a strong force and with her remarkable spirit she influenced many people in her community. As an active Girl Guider she was a prominent leader of the Toronto Gaujas Latvian Brownie troop. She was a long time participant of the St. Andrews Latvian Lutheran Church Choir. She remained an active member of Ladies Auxiliary of her Church and the Toronto Latvian Centre.

Milija continued to live independently in her house in Don Mills and only recently chose to move to The Donway Place. Our family will be forever grateful for the care and love she received from the palliative team of Mt. Sinai hospital as well as the professional staff of Revera Living.

Visitation and funeral service will be held concurrently on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. John's Latvian Lutheran Church at 200 Balmoral Avenue, Toronto with viewing starting at 10:00am and service starting at 10:30am. This will be followed by her interment at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road in North York, with a Celebration of Life gathering at the York Cemetery Centre. She has requested that any donations may be made in her memory to the St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Congregation or Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care.

Kindly be aware of current Covid19 regulations and please choose to follow the service online via zoom rather than in person if you have any related symptoms.

Our sincere condolences to Millie's family. Millie's best friend was Doreen Grainger. Mille helped Doreen through thick and thin. Bruce, Doreen's son, grew up playing with Millie's children and vacationing at Millie's cottage. Everyone loved Millie. She called Bruce "Clunk" and he called her "Spike".

There was never a more wonderful and spirited Matriarch. She will be sorely missed.

God speed dear Millie,
Until we meet again.

with love,
Bruce Grainger and Irene Lange-Mechlen
