It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mildred Nelson on March 23rd in the company of her loving family. She passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in her 92nd year. She was the beloved wife of the late Earle Nelson. She is survived by her daughters Joanne (Ralph) and Jennifer. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Jason (Sarah) and Jeremy. Also, her great grandchildren Hailey and Jackson. Predeceased by her daughter Lynne and her sister Ruth. Millie grew up in Peterborough and excelled in high school. She went to nursing school in Windsor at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital from 1949 to 1952. She met Earle during her nursing training and after graduating they moved back to Peterborough. They married in 1954 and were married for 64 years. She started her nursing career at Peterborough Civic followed by 30 years at Oshawa General Hospital. She worked in Post Partum and Recovery Room. Millie and Earle both enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and line dancing. They danced all over Canada and the United States. She and Earle loved international travel. She loved to sew and made several Raggedy Anne dolls which were purchased by several staff and acquaintances. She also was an avid reader and loved her cats. Millie and Earle loved the Blue Jays. They went to several games each season and couldn’t wait for the next season to start. There will be a private family funeral followed by a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lung Association or Lakeridge Health.
