In memory of

Michal Joseph John Rozycki

March 19, 1952 -  October 7, 2025

Michal Joseph John Rozycki, 73, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.

Born on March 19, 1952, in Toronto, Michal was the beloved son of the late John and Eleanor Rozycki, and brother to the late Debbie Rozycki. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy Rozycki, and her partner MJ Petretto.

A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Michal earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Western University, and a Piano Performer Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Michal began his career as a teacher, later transitioning into the business world, before ultimately returning to the classroom to share his deep love for music and learning. A gifted pianist and organist, he brought joy, discipline, and inspiration to his students and colleagues alike.

He married the love of his life, Nazli Dewji, with whom he built a beautiful life grounded in laughter, partnership, and unwavering love. Together they raised three children—Marcus (Ashley), Alyssa (Daniel Rossetti), and Sonya (Reid Acton)—who carry forward his legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness, and devotion to family. Michal was also a proud and devoted Dziadziu to Audrey, Arya, Kai, and Lily—his greatest joy and pride.

Known for his selflessness, steady presence, and quiet generosity, Michal touched the lives of all who knew him. Whether cheering on the Buffalo Bills, playing a round of golf, or sipping bourbon (also the name of his first dog), he brought humor and warmth wherever he went.

He was fond of saying, “Keep smiling!” and “Happy, happy!”—simple phrases that captured the optimism and lightheartedness with which he approached life. And in his trademark playful tone, he'd often remind us: “If you can’t play with the big boys, don’t play!”

Michal’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his friends, his students, and all who were lucky enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Michal’s memory to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Michal, was not just a teacher to students but also a teacher to adults as well. You taught us all how to be strong and courageous and steadfast even during the most difficult moments of health issues.
Your generosity , positive approach to life and your sense of humour definitely has been enjoyed by many of your friends and family. Michal was truly a great friend of mine for over 20 years and you will be deeply missed. Mikee, you can count on me to be there for Naz and your family . Nick

I am a parishioner at St. Paul's United Church in Oakville. I always enjoyed the music Michal's provided here, over many years, as well as his joie de vivre, his professionalism and his humour. To his family, I send my sincere condolences. As 'they' say, "Hold hands and stick together." Blessings to all of you.
