In memory of

Michael Joseph McElhinney

August 24, 1937 -  July 23, 2021

Peacefully on July 23, 2021 after complications from back surgery.

Michael leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Jennifer, and a large extended family. A voracious reader, history buff, storyteller, and animal lover - especially his cats - Michael will be very much missed by all.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am and friends and family are welcome to attend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 am. Due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, the Celebration of Life will be held by invitation only.

Donations may be made to NYGH Foundation or The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed, so very dear.

Mike was the family patriarch - a soul that shared the stories of his brothers and sister and very much kept the ‘McElhinneys’ at heart. His smile, laugh, and live will be missed. Still, he lives on with and in the love of Aunt Jen.

Thankfully, he’s again riding in the red MGB with his brothers - causing trouble and feeling free.

Michael was a true gentleman in every way
He always enjoyed a stimulating conversation on any subject
I will miss chatting with him on our walks with he and Jennifer very much

Jennifer was the light in his life and he adored her

My sincere condolences to his extended family who meant a lot to him

Such a dear man who we all loved. His kindness, generosity, gentle nature and his amazing sense of humour will be so missed. We have been truly blessed to have him in our lives.
Rest in peace.
With our love as always
