Suddenly on September 23, 2022 in his 76th year, Michael E. Caplan. Born in Toronto, Ontario to Marie-Marthe Linklater. Survived by his son, Michael Caplan and his daughter, Carol VanBrunt. Loving grandfather of Steve VanBrunt, Julia VanBrunt and Shawn VanBrunt. Cherished cousin of Judy Linklater who has been like a sister to him since they were children and shared a close relationship over the many years.

Michael dedicated over forty years of service in the transport industry where he drove tractor trailer, was promoted to lead hand and nominated and became shop stewart. He won company tractor trailer driving skills competitions and came in 1st place year after year. He represented the company he worked for competing in the Ontario truck Rodeo placing in the top 3 drivers in all of Ontario. Being a super skilled driver he taught both of his children how to drive at a very young age and instilled good values/morals in his children.

Michael had a passion for collecting records (45's), staying organized and he loved to gain any knowledge he could, he often researched any subject he found to be interesting. One of his favorite pastimes was horse Racing. He shared many great moments with his daughter and son at the race track. He would always begin with a careful analysis of the race program and then a hopeful bet would be placed followed by the thrilling race. His love of the horses was obvious to anyone who stepped into his home where he displayed sculptures and pictures of these beautiful, graceful and strong animals.

Being a single Dad, Michael spent much time with his children and shared his hobbies with them. Many trips to the ‘record shop’ were had searching for ‘oldies but goodies’. His love of country music and horses were rooted into his children. He will be dearly missed by his loving mother and son. Dad, with his jet black Elvis hair-do will be fondly remembered by his daughter.
