In memory of

Mel Chuck Wang Moy

February 13, 1932 -  January 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mel Chuck Wang Moy on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 90. Mel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Liza Pui Yin (Au), brother Zhuo Zuo (Zi Juan), sister Yee Wan and brother Chuck Hong (deceased). He was a well respected uncle to his nephews and nieces, and beloved great-uncle to his great-nephews and great-nieces. He was a strong and independent person who loved to travel and meet new people.

Mel loved cars of all kinds and never missed a car show. He would drive down to the US to visit his extended family whenever he could. Mel loved sharing his knowledge of life and work experiences with everyone.

His family is very grateful for the care and compassion shown by the staff at Shepherd Village and Yee Hong – Finch.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Yee Hong Foundation would be appreciated.

Mel liked to be called Mel. He had some quiet time here with music as he wished. He was proud of his career accomplishment as a manager in a transportation company. He was described as a gentlemen who appreciated travelling, cars, reading, music, and other things that allowed him to enjoy quietly. I still recall that he was calm and able to tell his stories and express opinions during admission not long ago. I will miss him and his resilience. Rest in peace , Mel!

Thank you Uncle Mel for being such a great role model in living life, for instilling in us a love of learning, encouraging us to travel & explore the world around us and finding humour wherever & whenever we can. You have left a huge hole in our family and you will be missed!

Hope you and Uncle Chuck are catching up with one another over a big bag of peanuts and a couple of beers!!

Dear Grand Uncle Mel,

I remember fondly the summer trips we would take to visit you in Toronto in a big rented white van. My favorite was when you would toss me up as a kid and hearing your laugh, I wish we have more moments like that together. I’d cherish all the written holiday cards and birthday cards you would send every year. Most importantly a part of you will always be ingrained in who I have become as a person. You taught me the importance of following your convictions and the importance of family. Uncle Mickey showed me the family history that you have written out so people after you…after me… will know how our family came to be- thank you for keeping our history alive. You lived a life full of adventure and saw the beauty in the world around you. I want to be like that. Even though you are no longer with us, you will live on within us. I hope wherever you are, you are with Uncle Chuck and he greeted you with a smile and a hug. I love you so much and thank you for all that you have provided for our family. Rest your soul and sleep well dear grand uncle Mel.

Love,
Angela

To Our Dear Grand Uncle Mel,

Words can’t begin to explain the heaviness in our hearts at this time. You have blessed us in ways unimaginable with your kindness, knowledge, laughter, and gentle love. My earliest memories were of Kevin and me writing back on birthday cards you would send us. Despite being thousands of miles away, you still kept us close. Thank you for always treating us like we were your very own kids. You treated everyone like that. That’s just who you were, selfless and lighthearted. It’s something that we try to live by and hope to carry on with our future families.

Although we wish we had more time together, your legacy will forever live on in our hearts. May you rest peacefully and watch over us from above. We love you forever and always. Till we meet again, Uncle Mel.

Love Kevin and Melanie
