In memory of

Mei Yung Fong

October 20, 1952 -  February 20, 2024

Mei Yung (Kwan) Fong, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away in her sleep at her home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the age of 71.

Born on October 20, 1952, in the Philippines to her late parents Ah Lin and Kwok Ha, Mei Yung was raised by her late stepmother, Shau King, after her mother's passing. Mei Yung married her devoted husband, Samson Woon Tsang Fong, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1972.

Mei Yung's life was dedicated to her family and community. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Samson Woon Tsang Fong, her cherished children Pauline (Tony) and Denny (Michelle), and her adored grandchildren Caitlyn, Arwen, Olivia, Matthew, and Daniel. She is also remembered fondly by her siblings Shek Yin (Man Hang), Mei Lee (Yu Ching), Shik Kin (Kam Sheung), and Shik Keung (May Kuen).

A woman of remarkable resilience and creativity, Mei Yung pursued her passion for fashion design, graduating from George Brown College despite humble beginnings as a seamstress. Her creative talents extended beyond fashion, as she found joy in painting, quilting, gardening, and crafting toys for her grandchildren.

Mei Yung's love for her family knew no bounds. She took immense pride in her grandchildren's accomplishments, finding joy in their music, dance, and sports activities. A devoted Catholic, Mei Yung was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Parish, where she volunteered her time and talent to support the community. She sewed masks during the COVID pandemic to support the hospital community and made milk bag mattresses with her grandchildren to support disaster relief efforts and third-world countries.

In the face of adversity, Mei Yung exemplified strength and courage as a cancer survivor. Her positive outlook and unwavering faith guided her through life's challenges, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, caring presence, and boundless love for her family and friends.

Though our world feels dimmer without her, Mei Yung's legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
