In memory of

Mei Ying Quan

October 5, 1930 -  January 6, 2022

Mei Ying Quan of Ajax. Ontario passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022 in her 92nd year after a full and remarkable life.

Mei Ying (Ho) was born on October 5, 1930 in the District of Hoi Ping, in the Province of Guangdong in South China. Mei married her husband Wing Quan in 1947. They had 2 children born in China and they experienced many hardships with both the World War II and the Communist Party. Wing left for Canada in 1952 while Mei later made her way to Hong Kong with the girls working by sewing. Mei came to Canada in 1958; lived in Tweed, Oshawa and settled in Ajax, Ontario for her last 59 years.

Mei and Wing along with their family operated “Wing’s Restaurant” from 1962 to 2005. She will be remembered for her smile, sense of humour and dedication to the business while serving the community with great Canadian / Chinese Food on Harwood Ave in Ajax for over 4 decades. She worked hard with many long hours and their customers became her friends. She enjoyed going to church, gardening and shopping.

Mei was a typical Chinese mother wanted the family to remember our Chinese traditions. She hoped for A grades from her boys in school and later realized that girls were equally as important. Mei had the business mind and had invested in real estate for rental income in her retirement years. Wing and Mei were remarkable in that they came to Canada with nothing and successfully raised a large family and were able to support themselves and provide work for others.

Left to cherish her memory are their 6 children: Pik Lin (Alfie) Yip; Yee Lin Kwan; Tom (Winnie) Quan; YeeWah (Gordon) Mounsteven; Bob (Elisabeth) Quan; and Jerry Quan. Also surviving the loss are her 9 grandchildren: Andrew, David, Gene, Ben, Katherine, Caroline, Jackie. Hillary and Justin as well as 3 Great Grandchildren: Emily. Theodore, Henry. Mei Ying’s kind and generous spirit will be missed.

A private family funeral will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Funeral Center on Thursday January 13th 11 am. Livestream will available at 10:45 am on Mei’s webpage.

As we are unable to celebrate Mei Ying’s life with family and friends. You may wish to share your condolences and tributes at www.etouch.ca.
