In memory of

May Woy Lum

May 5, 1959 -  April 22, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, May Lum, on April 22, 2024.

May was born to Kai and Moon Lum in Picton, Ontario on May 5, 1959. She was their first daughter, born after the late Kenny Lum. She is survived by her 3 younger sisters, Susan, Doreen and Kim.

While growing up in the small town of Picton, she helped out her parents and grandparents at their restaurant, Star Cafe. She balanced waiting on tables with her uncles while spending time with her sisters as well as excelling in her studies.

When the family relocated to Toronto, May took up a job at the Canada Post. She worked there for many years, until she eventually retired.

She was fond of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, especially Brandon who loved to indulge in ice cream with his Auntie May in High Park (Toronto). She loved going to family gatherings, like Christmas dinners and birthday parties for her nieces and nephews. Travelling was one of her passions, especially to the U.S. to visit her cousins. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and going to the CNE to play the games. She liked spending time with family and always made it a point to phone family to ask how they were doing. We will miss those phone calls.

In memory of May and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or CAMH would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Cousins and family,

My apologies for the lateness of this message. I had written a draft then realized weeks later I forgot to post it.

I have fond memories of May as generous, fun-loving, hard-working, conversational and kind, especially when I was a kid during our visits to Browning Ave. To this day I never hear a Rod Stewart tune without thinking about her! Gone too soon, too suddenly, and too young. Sending hugs and love to you from across the miles.

Love, Brenda
