At the age of 38, Matthew Huxley died at Toronto Western Hospital on July 20, 2024, following a brief illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents John and Sydney, his brother Derek and family members. Matthew will also be remembered by his friends, including his community at Craigleith Ski Club and Lake of Bays, where he spent many happy winters and summers. Matthew had many skills. He was an accomplished skier and coached skiing both at Craigleith and Whistler. He was also a lifeguard, sailor, water skier, canoe tripper, skateboarder and camper. Matthew was a founding member and served as the Chair of the Toronto Alliance to End Homelessness Lived Experience and was an active and engaged leader in the housing and homelessness sector. A memorial service will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre.
