In memory of

溫馬翠芳夫人 Mary Wen

April 29, 1932 -  September 2, 2018

Passed with peace and grace in her sleep early Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Sunnybrook Medical Center, Toronto, Ontario.

Mary was born in Taishun, China, on April 29,1932, and immigrated to Kingman, Alberta in 1949 with her sister, Susan, and mother, Mah Wong Sei, to reunite with her father, Mah Him.

As a middle and high school student in China and later as an adult in Canada, Mary always demonstrated an adventurous nature, strength and resilience in times of adversity, and an appreciation for beauty, especially in her personal approach to fashion. She was a fashion icon to many of her friends who frequently sought her advice on how and what to wear to important charity and community events. Mary was a person with compassion for her family and friends; and, she was smart, personable, funny, and witty.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, William P. Wen, Order of Canada, in 1957, Mary and Bill established their permanent home in Toronto, Ontario where their son, William Henry, was born. Throughout their life together, Bill and Mary provided leadership and support to numerous community organizations and projects, always with an eye toward building bridges between people, between communities, and between countries.
Mary enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She remained active in many community organizations until the past several years when her health prevented her engagement.

Mary is preceded in passing by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her loving son, William Henry; brother Henry (Nancy) Mah, San Francisco; sister Susan (John) Kwock, San Francisco; nephews Howard Mah (Sonia), Edward Mah, Darin Kwock and nieces Mary Choy and Lily Mah from California. She also leaves behind many relatives and good friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, ON.

Hours: Visitation from 10-11 am;
Service at 11:00 am, followed by burial.
