In memory of

Mary Scott Dunbar

October 5, 1930 -  December 5, 2022

Surrounded by her loving family, May passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2022 at the age of 92. Predeceased by husband John, son Jack and daughter Ann, May will be lovingly remembered by daughter Marlene (the late Jack Harvey), granddaughter Kaila Muzzin, grandsons Matt Dunbar (Stephanie), Mark Dunbar, and Jacob Muzzin, Son-in-Law Larry Muzzin, and Daughter-in-Law Christine Dunbar (Jacques Lavergne), Great Grandkids Kara Dunbar and Leah Dunbar and her many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

May was born in Scotland and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1957. After spending two years in Kitimat BC, they moved to Toronto and then settled in Richmond Hill in 1966. May and her husband John were involved in many community activities over the years, and the unforgettable duo impacted countless lives with their generosity and caring spirits. Her legacy is the love, laughter and joy she shared with all who knew her, along with the greatest shortbread ever made.

A celebration of May’s life will take place at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd East. Visitation at 1:30pm followed by a service at 2:00pm.

Many thanks to the staff at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill, and sincere gratitude to Dr. Geoffroy (“Dr Pierre” as she called him) and Dr. Anjli Takhar for your tender care and to May’s visiting healthcare team.

In the wise words of May’s beloved brother Bill, “ye cannae eat flowers!”, so in lieu of flowers, May has requested donations to Covenant House or the Richmond Hill Food Bank. If you do wish to send flowers, please send them directly to Elgin Mills Funeral Centre.
