Mary passed away peacefully November 30, 2024, on her own terms, the same way she led her life. Mary was smart, loyal and compassionate. An avid reader, master bridge player; she loved animals, classical music and the theatre. She provided a safe home to many furry friends over the decades. Mary was born on June 6, 1933, to William McGuigan and Amy Rose Murray in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Mary moved to Toronto in her twenties, joined by her sister Clara. She worked at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and they enjoyed many adventures including dances and bridge, forging friendships that Mary carried with her for life. Mary fell in love and married Austin Fox. They were devoted to one another enjoying delicious meals that Austin prepared as well as euchre. Mary spent a large part of her life taking care of loved ones. Mary was predeceased by her loving parents, her beloved sister Clara, baby brother Stephen Theodore, and her cherished husband, Austin. After forty-two years at RBC, Mary retired and enjoyed many pursuits including travel, cards and loving their cats with her companion Peter. Mary will be fondly remembered by her nieces Sheri, Laurel (Chris), Diane (Mike) as well as great nephews Ryan, Danny, and Michael, and great niece Sara. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate Mary’s life and interment will be at Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa, Ontario
Memorial donations to the Toronto Humane Society or the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated by the family.
