It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary French-May announce her sudden passing on October 4, 2024 while at Sunnybrook Hospital, in Toronto, Ontario. She was 75 years old.
Mary was born on April 24, 1949 in Toronto, Ontario.
Mary will be fondly remembered by her husband of 29 years, (Ron May) her children, Mike (Jana), Tirzah (Darren), Matt and her predeceased daughter, Tammy (14). Her grandchildren, Alex, Logan and Mckinley and Theo and Isla and their Mom (Bonnie). Also by her stepchildren, Andrew (Fiona), Nathalie and Ashlie (Justin) and her step grandchildren, Drew, Maddy, Henry, Halie, Mackenzie, Cody and Sage.
She was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy French. One of four siblings, she was a little sister to Kevin (deceased) and sister-in-law to Sylvia. She is also the big sister to Maureen (Dave) and Melanie.
She will also be remembered by her step great grandchildren Brooklyn, Paisley, Sophie, Keno and, Harper and her many neices and nephews.
Mary (a/k/a Bonnie) was a strong woman. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, friend and retired nurse. She had a heart of gold and a passion for life.
She started her nursing career in Paediatrics at Scarborough General Hospital. From there she became the Clinical Nurse Educator at the Poison Control Center at Sick Kids Hospital. She left Sick Kids and worked for the Toronto CCAC before retiring. She was passionate about people and their care. She was strong, driven and intelligent. She went back to school and completed her degree at York University while working and caring for her family.
When she wasn’t working she was in her garden, taking art classes, painting, playing the piano (Fur Elise her favourite song) sewing a quilt for a family member or repairing something for someone else.
She had a passion for music and was an avid dog lover. She used to breed and show English cocker spaniels and the most recent love of her life Jazz, is a red roan English Cocker spaniel.
Over the last few years, after a day of gardening, sewing, painting and walking Jazz, nights were spent sitting in the sunroom snuggling with Ron and Jazz. The fireplace was always on, classical music in the background while they sipped a glass of wine and enjoyed a sunset.
Mary and Ron shared a deep love and friendship, the kind many people are envious of. These two lovebirds enjoyed each other more than anything. They could gab or sit quietly just enjoying the company. They finished each others sentences and enjoyed a love that runs deep.
Mary did not want a funeral. Rather she wanted a celebration of friendship.
To honour her wishes and celebrate her life and her friendship, please join the family at her home and her garden, with Ron and her beloved Jazz on the following date and time:
