In memory of

Mary Christina "Tina" Bedford

January 6, 1938 -  September 3, 2020

Mary Christina Bedford (Tina) aged 82 years, passed away peacefully on September 3, surrounded by the generous and caring nursing staff of the Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, most of Tina’s closest family members were able to say goodbye before she passed and are grateful for the frontline workers who made her final days comfortable.

Nicknamed “Diamond” by her late husband Douglas Bedford for her sparkling personality, sharp wit and remarkable strength, Tina was a rock for her entire family and will be deeply missed. She was a loving mother to Douglas (Linda), Scott (pre-deceased) and Glori Bedford; nana to Ashley (Derek) Fulcher and Shawn Coulson; GG to Robert Fulcher; sister to George (Terri Lynn) and Wayne Arnott; and Aunt to Kris, Sarah and Sophia.

Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Tina was a proud east coaster through and through. She owned her own business for many years called Mobile Beauty Supplies with her husband. She loved lobster, country music, travel, and coffee. But most of all, she loved her family and her animals. She was the first person to drop everything if someone was in need and was an unwavering source of support for many.

Stoic, thoughtful and a great listener, when Tina spoke, everyone listened. Her words were always purposeful, and she was a one-of-a-kind woman who lived life to its fullest. From walking, golfing, line dancing and belly dancing, to playing cards on a Saturday night or reading at home with her Diamond Dog by her side, she was always doing something that brought her joy.

In her later years, Tina found her brightest joy in becoming a great-grandmother. As her memories began to quickly fade, the ones of her home and her great-grandson Robbie were the strongest, keeping her company and bringing her comfort.

Instead of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the Ajax Pickering Hospital in Christina's Name.

Diamond was a very special lady who cared for everyone. I was the recipient of nurturing kindness when I was young and on my own.
She had me over for dinner weekly when I lacked the resources to keep a healthy diet, and she made sure I had wholesome food and a kind and caring environment to enjoy it in.
To quote Doug, She is a saint!
Thank you lord for bringing this wonderful human into my life!
Rest In Peace sweet angel... till we meet again.

I came to know Mrs. B through her son Scott. She and I spent many a Sunday afternoon drinking tea in her kitchen. She shared many words of wisdom with me and mentored me at 16. Sending much love to the family at this difficult time.💔

It was a pleasure to have Tina as a neighbour growing up. A wonderful woman who will be missed. My condolences. ❤️
