In memory of

Martin Srancz

July 4, 1929 -  May 25, 2020

Martin passed away on May 25, 2020, at the age of 90. Martin was a quiet and easy-going man, a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 after the tyrannies of World War II and Communism in Hungary. He came to Canada for a better life and found it with his wife Elizabeth of 58 years. Life in Canada was not easy but he did have the freedom and the opportunity for a better life. In his younger years, Martin loved to fish, play cards and play snooker. In his later years, he enjoyed his excursions to the casino and he always had time for his granddaughter, Natalie. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his daughter, Liz, son-in-law Ken, his son, Joe (Hungary), and granddaughter, Natalie.
Martin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

When I think of my uncle Martin I remember the CNE as a little girl. He took Liz and I (my first time) there one hot end-of-summer day and we had a great time. He was not a talkative guy so it was easy for me to see him as this big scary guy with his tattoos and wild hair, but it changed that day when he put on a big flowery hat and wore it as if it was perfectly normal.
When I moved to toronto he helped me find an apartment and made me feel loved and cared-for. My uncle Martin was more of a father figure to than my own father ever was.
He’s in a better place now and I know he’s looking down on us with love and pride.

I am so very sorry to hear of Martin's passing. I have fond memories of the many times visiting Sylvan Ave chatting with Martin, especially at Liz and Kenny's wedding, as well as numerous Christmas Celebrations.

Rest in peace Martin.

My heart and love is with you all.
