In memory of

Mark Edward Thomas

August 18, 1955 -  June 21, 2018

Thomas, Mark Edward

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Mark on June 21, 2018 in Pickering, Ontario.

Born in Saint John, N.B, Mark always maintained an affinity for the East Coast and memories of his youth growing up there. Graduate of St. Malachy’s High School, Mark became a life long student and teacher, receiving degrees from University of Toronto (PHD Industrial Relations and MBA), University of New Brunswick (Bachelor of Law and BBA), and Dalhousie University (BSc). Mark went on to share his love of learning as a university professor to students at Trent University, St. Mary’s University, University of New Brunswick and University of Toronto. Mark never stopped seeking knowledge and became a self-taught home renovator of his own home. In his spare time, Mark was a connoisseur of music and he shared his passion for teaching and love of music to everyone through his Friday Night posts on his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/mark.thomas.7545). Mark’s quiet steady presence is a huge loss to all who knew him.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Vivien (Lemckert) and his children Gwenda, Aidan, Rhiannon from Pickering, ON; sister Carol Alderman (Michael) of Rockwood, ON; nieces Gina, Jennifer, Sara, Anneke, Corrina, Hannah, Charlotte and Diana and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Mary Bridget “Rita” Thomas (Boudreau) and Harold Keith Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mark’s memory to Prostate Cancer Canada or a charity of your choice.

Vivian and Family,

I am so sorry for your unexpected loss. I am thinking of you during these very difficult times.

From the time I was 10, I remember looking up to my big cousin Mark. I remember following him around when we all lived on Pleasant St. I am pretty sure I annoyed him, but he never let on. He just quietly disappeared to his room!

Mark will be in my heart and memories forever.

Love,
Bonnie

So very sorry to hear of Mark's sudden passing. Our family and Mark and his sister Carol were childhood friends and we lost touch many years ago. We were next door neighbors. RIP Mark.

Vivian, Carol and families:

I am still shaken by Mark's passing. It's so unfortunate. He was a good friend and one that I will miss dearly. His sense of humour, his laugh, his insights, his love of music, our conversations, will all be missed.

I am truly sorry I will not be with you this Friday. As fate would have it, my aunt is being laid to rest on Thursday and I am a pallbearer for a family friend on Friday. This is a sad week on so many fronts, but my thoughts have been, and will remain, with you.

Sincerely,

Gary Caines

Endings are the saddest part,
So just give me a happy middle
And a very happy start.”
