Beautiful memories treasured forever. Marilyn can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there are cherished memories, she will live forever in our hearts.
Jerome: No words can explain the sadness of losing a very loving Mother. May it comfort you knowing that there are people who understand and care and I am one of them.
Marilyn: "Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence." (Your favourite poem "Desiderata").
I'm so sorry to hear of the sad news of Marilyn's passing. It's been 15 years since I retired as Deputy Registrar, Court of Appeal for Ontario. For me, so much of my pride as a member of the Court of Appeal Office was in working with a wonderful team of colleagues, Marilyn included. We were all a team together, and a good one at that, for which I'm deeply grateful. I'm particularly saddened by the news of Marilyn's passing for this reason: I visited my former office on Tuesday, October 3rd, hoping to see at least some of my former colleagues, those, at least, who were still part of the office for which I still hold so much affection. I missed not seeing Marilyn among a small number of others. I didn't know Marilyn was on medical leave since August 2016 and on LTIP since early in 2017: I I would have loved very much to have seen her. Rest in peace, Marilyn. It was a pleasure and an honour to work with you.
Accessorised from her hair to her toenails, Marilyn was without a doubt the swankiest chick to ever walk the floors of Osgoode Hall! She was a mentor, a friend and a fellow trini, so we shared many a laugh over the years. It is hard to believe that I will never see that big, bright, beautiful smile again, but the great memories will live in my heart always. Jerome- know that you were loved by one of the greatest moms in the world and you were her world. Be comforted and know that she is in the arms of the Lord. Eternal rest, eternal peace grant unto her O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her always.
Precious Memories how they linger, oh how they fill my soul. My sincere deepest condolences to the bereaving family and close friends of Marilyn Skeene. I pray that you all will find comfort among each other, in this time of such great loss.
Marilyn was a trooper at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and I had had the pleasure of working with her from August 2003 until she became ill in August 2016.
Marilyn was a teacher both in the work place (as she was always willing to outline her knowledge to others at work) and in the world of fashion (as we all knew how much she loved to coordinate and accessorize). Marilyn was a Jovial, direct and strong will powered individual. One who was not afraid to voice her opinion. There is so much precious memories to share of Marilyn, but my favorite was to see her all (dolled up aka dress up) for her gym work out classes, especially her "Zumba Class." I would then teased her by saying "are you sure your not going to see Jimmy and not going to the gym", on hearing my remarks all Marilyn did was just laughed.
Oh Marilyn, your warm smile and cheerful laughter will be missed.
God saw your struggles and felt your pain. He said my daughter, my child your work here on earth is done. It is time for you to come home. Uncompleted task, conversations and goodbyes will all remain the same. Take my hand and follow me. Though our hearts are shattered with grieve and pain we won't question the works of the Almighty. Marilyn Skeene my sister, my friend your task on earth is done. Sleep on beloved, sleep on in perfect peace.
My sincere condolences go out to Jerome and family. I’ve known Marilyn for a good part of my life and I knew her as a strong person, someone who was proud of her work and her family, and also private. But her love for her son was clear and love for her family were easily visible on her face and her surroundings. She had a beautiful smile and she will be greatly missed.
To Marilyn’s family, I truly hope that the memories of the happier moments experienced with Marilyn will help ease your pain and give you strength.
