Remembering a Remarkable Life

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Marie, who passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023, surrounded by the love of her husband, Joe, and their cherished daughter Tara, alongside her husband Patrick. Marie was a wonderful person—graceful, warm, and always there with a quick joke or a comforting gesture. She and Joe started their life together in Cabbagetown in 1964 and built a beautiful family, raising two children, Shane and Tara. Her kindness, humor, and love for her family and friends defined her character. Marie's absence leaves a profound gap in our lives. Leaving behind fond memories are her sisters Joan, Veronica, and Martha, brother Sean, and a circle of beloved relatives and friends. She now finds peace alongside her son Shane, her parents Martha and Michael, and siblings Richard, Michael, Patricia, Sandra, and Timmy. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Sunnybrook and Centenary hospitals and the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities Palliative team for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held in the coming spring, a time to honor her spirit and reminisce on the joy she brought. In her memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity close to your heart would be appreciated.

Heart felt sympathy to Joey and Tara and also to the rest of the family. All my memories are of fun times with Marie. There was never a time that when us girls got together that we didn't laugh. She has left us with a huge void but alot of wonderful memories. Until we meet again my friend. Love Pat

My heart is truly broken. Aunt Marie was a special human being. Although I moved away… it seemed like no time had passed when we got to see each other. You will be sorely missed, but I also know there are loved ones on the other side to greet you. So beautiful, inside and out. Your passing leaves a hole in many hearts ❤️ Until we meet again…. Love you to the moon and back. My deepest sympathies to my Uncle Joe and my cousin, Tara and the rest of our family. We will miss your bright light 💔

Even though we didn’t keep in touch over the years I did keep tabs on her through her siblings Richard and Joan. I feel an emptiness just the same. I was always so glad when we did run into each other. She brought back a lot of feelings of our being seventeen and operators together. So sad.
