In memory of

Marie Caldwell

March 3, 1920 -  March 31, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Caldwell (nee Douglas), peacefully at home. Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years Donald (Don), daughter and son-in-law Patsy and Sal Badali of Toronto, daughter Catherine Caldwell of Turks & Caicos, son and daughter-in-law Alex and Caroline Caldwell of Toronto, and son and daughter-in-law Doug and Nancy Caldwell of Mississauga; grandchildren Bryan, Paul and Kevin Badali, Veronica and Anthony Caldwell and, Cameron and Austin Caldwell; niece Wendy McQuade Forrest of Ottawa. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Marie taught math and science at Newmarket High School from 1942 – 1953. While raising her family, Marie privately tutored math to many students in her home. She returned to teaching in 1974 at Humber College, Keelesdale Campus, from where she retired in 1984. Marie had many talents, especially her home baking. It was said that you would go a long way before you tasted homemade apple and other fruit pies as good as the ones that Marie passionately baked for her family and friends. Marie will be affectionately remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a women of extraordinary character and strength and will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. A link is provided on the Donations tab taking you to the Alzheimer website where you can Donate in memory of someone special.

Mom was always interested in the stock market. I remember as a kid her meeting my Dad at the front door at the end of his day and she said to him "I made more money than you did today and didn't even leave the house".

Nancy Caldwell (Daughter Inlaw)

I will always remember her stories. Each visit she would tell me something new about her childhood or places she had travelled to.
