Maria DeCandia Robertazzi passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2017, at the age of 90. Maria was born on June 10, 1927, in Molfetta, Italy, the daughter of Francesco Decandia and Pasqualina Scardigno. She was married to Luigi Robertazzi on January 29, 1955 in Molfetta, Italy. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1988. He was the love of her life and they were married for 33 happy years.
Maria was a loving mother to Anna (Michele) Vilardi, Maria Pasqualina Vogl, Francesco (Connie) Robertazzi, Domenica Robertazzi and Mauro (Marilyn) Robertazzi. She was a cherished Nonna to 11 grandchildren: Antonia (Adam) Coyle, Giuseppe Vilardi, Michael Vogl, Jaclyn Vogl, Christina (Zdenko) Pintar, Anthony Robertazzi, Matthew Robertazzi, Natasha Fromm, Michael Fromm, Luigi Robertazzi and Alyssa Robertazzi. She was also a Nonna to one great-grandchild: Matteo Pintar. She is survived by her brother, Vincenzo DeCandia.
Maria was a mother and a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved gardening, sewing, singing, dancing and especially shopping. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was extremely proud of her Italian heritage. She brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her. She was a very strong woman and battled right to the end to be with her family.
We love you Ma/Nonna and we will miss you very much. Piano piano a camminar! OK!
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre. This will be followed by a funeral service at 11 AM.
