Hazel (Storie) Lowery
November 9, 1920 – April 17, 2018

It is with very heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Mom, Margaret “Hazel” (Storie) Lowery, in her 98th year. Mom is reunited with her husband of 59 years, Fred Lowery (1920-2007).
Devoted and loving mother of Nancy Lowery of Oshawa, Linda Lowery (Ted Dionne) of Oshawa, Gina Bunting (Richard) of Ennismore and Tom Lowery (Robyn) of Summerland, B. C.
Very proud and loving Gramma of Katie Bunting (Garrett Plumley), Patrick Bunting (Val Rouette), Allison Bunting (Thomas Watson), Garrett Bell, Brayden Lowery (Martyna Krezel), and Matthew Lowery. Adoring Great-Gramma to Elliot Bunting. Very special Step-Gramma to Julie Lezetc (Nick) and to Joe (Niki Chinnick), Darcy and Marc Dionne (Jen). Loving Great Step-Gramma to James, Kiri, Jack and Adam.
Mom was the beloved daughter of Tom and Rosie (Hanselman) Storie of Powassan; dear sister of Noreen Bowman (Albert) of Nipissing, Erma Sauve of North Bay and the late Edith Neil, Elva McFadden, Elaine Whittaker and Mervin, Garnet, Earl and Ivan Storie.
Mom is sadly missed by many loving Storie and Lowery nieces and nephews, her dear friends Laura, Anne and Alberta and her many friends at Traditions of Durham. Sincere appreciation to the amazing staff at the 4F Supportive Care Unit, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, who lovingly took care of Mom in her final days.
On May 5, 2018, family and friends may join us at Thornton Funeral Home, 1200 Thornton Rd. N, Oshawa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a “Gratitude Journey” honouring Mom’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a charity Mom was fond of, Durham Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
Mom and Dad will be interred in Powassan Ontario alongside her much-loved parents and near McQuaby Lake where they spent many wonderful years at the family cottage.

We have known Hazel for many many years. We have many fond memories of the cottage with Hazel, Fred and the family. Hazel was a very hardworking, loving person. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I have so many fond memories of Aunt Hazel. She and Uncle Fred always made me feel welcome when we visited Grandma and Grandpa every year from California. Her smiles and laughter were always contagious and made you feel wrapped in love. She is the last of my mom's brothers and sisters and their spouses, and we have considered her the Lowery matriarch for many years. Godspeed and God bless you Aunt Hazel as you wing your way home to Uncle Fred and all the many ancestors who have gone before you.
