In memory of

Margaret June Fitzgerald

June 23, 1925 -  January 7, 2023

On Saturday, January 7, 2023, June passed away peacefully at her residence, in her 98th year.

June was born in London, Ontario to the late Helen and Herbert Elliott. She was predeceased by her brother Bob Elliott and her beloved husband of 60 years, Jerry Fitzgerald.

June will be dearly missed by her daughter, Debbie Snucins (Peter) and son, Paul Fitzgerald (Ardyth). She will forever be in the hearts of her grandchildren, Lara and Erik, and cherished by her niece and nephews and their families.

June was an amazingly warm and caring person. People were naturally drawn to her positive demeanour and her infectious smile. She lit up any room that she entered. She always made time for friendly chats with neighbours and friends. June’s family was her top priority in life. She loved unconditionally and was a devoted and proud mother, grandmother and aunt.

June was always an active volunteer in her community, volunteering at the local schools and at Scarborough Centenary Hospital for over 40 years.

June’s “happy place” was at the family cottage on Lake Muskoka, surrounded by her many friends from Cooper Point, where wonderful memories were made every summer.

The family would like to extend it’s deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at DelManor Wynford for making the last nine years of June’s life so enjoyable.

A private family celebration of June’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in June’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

I met June at their home when visiting Jerry about the WinstonChurchill Old Boys.
She was very welcoming and easy to talk with.
I then met her again at the celebration of life for Jerry. She reminded me of my mom.

Debbie and family,
How fortunate you have been to have your mom live such a long and wonderful life!
I was blessed to have known your parents and visited at their home in Scarborough and at Cooper's Point.

Debbie, Paul, all in the family June and Jerry so deeply cared for:

I was one of the many fortunate folk who through our teaching met and so appreciated this wonderful woman, partner to Jerry Fitzgerald, Fitz.
June graciously welcomed so many into her home. Her support to Jerry was legendary.
Your obituary captures all the wonderful dedication she had for others, near and dear.
Red and I were grateful for the social times we shared with June.
