In memory of

Margaret Elizabeth Klym

July 15, 1931 -  October 28, 2017

It is with great sadness that the Klym family announces the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Klym, aged 86, after a long and dignified struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28th at Bay Ridges Long Term Care. Predeceased by her parents Frederick Percival and Audrey Pearl Berwick, Margaret will be fondly remembered by her brother Ken and her two much loved sons Michael and Stephen.

Margaret personified many of the feminist ideals of the modern woman's movement in her actions as an activist, socialist and working mother. She even ran for provincial political office back in the 1950s. He career was spent working in the Ontario Labour Movement and she served as one of its representatives adjudicating claims for employment insurance.

A steadfastly caring Mother for her two sons, Margaret was most happy when spending time celebrating with the family. Michael and Stephen will remember her as an avid lover of the arts and culture, especially the theater. She was a lover of a good mystery, be it a page-turner, television show or big screen whodunit. She loved a good crossword puzzle, especially while spending time at the family cottage on Round Lake or while vacationing somewhere warm with a nice sandy beach. In her later years she was particularly fond of joining her friends for weekly swimming dates and enjoyed knitting while watching Coronation Street religiously. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alzheimer's Society of Canada, www.alzheimers.ca. For her American friends they recommend the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, www.alzinfo.com.

So sorry to hear about Marg. She was such an amazing lady. So intelligent. She could have a conversation on any topic. Many good memories up at Round lake. We will always remember her infectious laugh.

You know how special a person was, the difference they must have made in the world, the positive impact their life must have had on those around them when their grown children sing their song and share admirative stories with their friends and colleagues. Stephen doesn't often speak about his personal life at the office but when on occasion he spoke of his mother, Margaret, he made me wish I had had the opportunity to meet her.

My deepest condolences to you, Stephen, and to your brother.
