In memory of

Margaret Dorothy "Peggy" Easton

June 25, 1925 -  October 16, 2017

Margaret Dorothy Easton, 92, recently of Trenton, Ontario, passed away in the early hours of October 16th, 2017 at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Peggy, as she was known to friends and family, was born on June 25, 1925 to Harold James Frederick Morby and Dorothy Jane (Gill) Morby in the village of Frensham, Surrey, U.K. Peggy loved school and enjoyed regaling family with stories of her childhood antics in the delightful English countryside. Her father was a gifted gardener on a country estate. Harold passed on his love of horticulture and nature to his daughter whose gardens were the envy of the neighbourhood. Peggy attended Pitman’s Commercial School where she learned shorthand, typing and bookkeeping. She was only fifteen when she started her first job as a secretary at the Farnham Cooperative Society. During WWII, Peggy caught the eye of a handsome soldier serving with the Canadian Second Echelon. Peggy and Harvey Easton were married at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Frensham on August 8, 1944. After the war, Peggy and Harvey and their first child, Gillian, sailed to Canada to start a new life in Toronto. Peggy was a stay at home mom until 1959 when the family moved to Scarborough. Peggy began working at the Scarborough Board of Education, eventually becoming secretary to the Director of Education. Peggy was a popular and hardworking employee. She retired from the Board in 1982 when the first of her four grandchildren was born. Her grandchildren, family and friends brought her much joy. She will be greatly missed by her best friend of more than 65 years, Bernice Stanley, 94, who now resides in Hallowell House, Picton.

Peggy is survived by her children, Gillian Margaret Weld, Paul Douglas Easton (Linda Ganchar), Loretta Jane Easton (Brian Gillespie), her grandchildren, Lindsay Elizabeth Flynn, Kathryn Anne Flynn (Alex Legendre), Ashley Diana Weld (Matt MacKenzie) and Christopher Weld (Sarah) and her great-grandchildren, Sloane Elizabeth Diana Weld, age 2 1/2, Colin James MacKenzie, age 18 months and Harvey Alexander Legendre, age 4 months.

She is predeceased by her husband, William Harvey Easton (1919-2000), her brother Ronald James Morby(1920-1962), her son, David Stuart Easton (1951-1968) and her son-in-law, Thomas John Weld (1954-2003).

In lieu of flowers, we have selected three charities that you may wish to donate to in memory of Peggy: Alzheimer Society of Canada, CAMH and Trenton Memorial Hospital. Thank you!

My sincere condolences on the loss of Peggy. She is undoubtedly one of the sweetest women I've ever met. I've got so many years of great memories which Peggy was a big part of. I'll miss that million dollar smile and being called "love". RIP my sweet friend. xoxo
