DOI, Manabu passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018 in his 90th year with his wife, Tsuyuko and son Eiji by his side at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital. Born in Cumberland B.C. on December 5 1928, he is predeceased by his parents Denjiro and Fusayo Doi and his brother Ikuo. He is survived by his wife, Tsuyuko; his siblings, Takao Doi (Shizue) and Mary Hama (Henry) and their families; his son, Eiji (Sharon) and granddaughters Lauren (Kenny), Jennifer Baldomar (Stephan), and Sarah. Serving as a cornerstone to his family, he remained close to the extended Doi family and his hometown community of Cumberland B.C. Committed to preserving and sharing heritage, he volunteered with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) and the Coal Creek Historic Park. He also leaves behind a dedicated career with the Marubeni Corporation.
Visitation will take place at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Home on Saturday December 29 from 2pm to 3:30pm. A private service for immediate family will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Momiji Health Care Society, the Toronto Buddhist Church, or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.
