In memory of

Malcolm Anthony Gonsalves

January 6, 1929 -  May 14, 2019

After a courageous battle with bladder cancer, our beloved father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. He was surrounded by his favourite girls. Malcolm was the caring and devoted husband of Marlene (deceased), and proud and loving father to Juanita (Jim) and Marguerita, doting grandfather (Papa) to Emma and James. Malcolm and James shared a kindred spirit and enjoyed a very special relationship.

At 90 years young, he still had much work to do here on Earth. He was a fantastic cook. He also loved to fish, sail, garden, dance, listen to soca, play guitar and cause trouble…. Lots of it! Those that knew him can attest to that fact. Malcolm enjoyed fixing things, be it an object or a problem. He didn’t like to waste time or money. His motto was “do it right the first time”. He had a real zest for life and relished spending time with his friends and family. He was a loyal, generous and caring man, who was brutally honest. People always knew exactly where they stood with him.

We would like to thank the medical team at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, and more recently the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre (Emergency Department and the team on the 3rd floor) for their care, compassion and empathy, not just for Malcolm but the entire family.

Please join us to celebrate his incredible life on Wednesday, May 29th at 10:00 am for visitation, service at 11 am, with a reception, following a private internment.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memorial to the Canadian Cancer Society, and / or Dying with Dignity.

In his final days, Malcolm was heard saying “let me go nah”. His vincy friends will appreciate this.

The family extends much appreciation for the love and support that they have received over the last few weeks.

To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I have very found memories of your Dad and our banking days. We debated , he provided advice and we had some laughs.
