In memory of

Lucia Sumaculub

June 30, 1938 -  August 31, 2025

Please join us in celebrating the life of Lucia “Mommy Lucy” Conje Sumaculub, who passed peacefully at the age of 87 on August 31, 2025, in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.

Lucia was born on June 30, 1938, in San Jose, Antique, Philippines. She dedicated her career to education as an elementary school teacher, shaping young minds with wisdom, patience, and care. In her hay days, she took pride in becoming a "master" teacher and a demonstration Science teacher in the Western Visayas region in the Philippines. Her greatest roles, however, were being a caring wife of the late Simeon "Daddy" Sumaculub and a devoted mother to her three children — Nening Marilou (Benny), Nonong Leo (Bing Donna Lee), and Pinky Mary Ann (Arthur).

In the second chapter of her life, Lucia immigrated to Vancouver, BC Canada in May 1987 with her husband, Simeon Sumaculub. Together, they built a home filled with faith, family, and tradition. She helped raise her grandchildren — Chris, Mabel, Yan-Yan, Cia-Cia, Kaye, and Aryn — passing down Filipino culture through food, stories, and the arts.

In 2019, Lucia and Simeon returned to the Philippines, where they spent five years of their retirement. After Simeon’s passing in June 2024, Lucia returned once again to Canada to live her final year with family close by. Nearing the end of her life, her family grew to welcome Saki, Rush and King, and great-grandchildren Tyga and Hugo.

Lucia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was rooted in faith, service, and love for her family.

We thank you for visiting this memorial page, where you may find photos of her life well-lived.

We invite you to share your messages, memories, and prayers as we mourn her passing while also celebrating her legacy.
