Lorraine and Russell Manock
December 18, 2022
The Family of Russ and Lorraine Manock mourn their sudden, unexpected, and tragic loss.
Russ and Lorraine will forever be in the hearts of their children - Stephanie Chinner (husband Ashley), Steve Manock (wife Monica), Sandi Lund (husband Travis) along with their grandchildren Trinity Chinner (husband Justin Lewis), Payton Chinner, Bree Chinner (partner Brent Clements), Isabella Lund, Madelyn Lund, Emma Manock, Alex Manock and soon to be great grandchild, baby Clements.
To Ashley, Monica and Travis, Russ and Lorraine were always Mom and Dad. When Steph, Steve and Sandi were married, Russ and Lorraine were blessed with two more sons and one more daughter with whom they shared unconditional love and respect.
Russ was born on June 14, 1947 in North York Ontario. Russ was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. Russ left lasting impressions with his quick wit, wisdom and generosity. He was a trusted mentor, business advisor and friend to everyone who knew him. Russ retired a year ago to spend more time with his family and that he did. Russ was a meticulously hard worker but, he lived for his family. He shared an everlasting bond with each one of his children.
Steph and her Dad were more than Father and Daughter. Steph looked up to her Dad, she looked to him for every piece of advice she ever needed, Steph would not hesitate to let anyone and everyone know “My Dad says!”. Words were never required, they seemed to always know what each other were thinking. Russ always made Steph feel safe but, most importantly loved. They worked hand in hand for over 20 years and created an incredibly special and unique relationship in the office and out.
Steve’s Dad coached him in both life and sports, many of Steve’s friends still refer to Russ as “Coach”. They shared an obsession for sports. Russ was always there to coach Steve up and cheer him on in everyway. They shared in all the wins and losses together. Whether it be on the field, the ice or the greens they loved it all together. What Steve would give for “one last catch”.
For Sandi, her Dad always knew exactly what she needed and when she needed it, whether it be a push in the right direction, a gentle hug, words of wisdom or an ear to just listen. Her Dad was always Sandi’s one true voice of reason that she trusted without question.
Lorraine was born October 19, 1951 in Northern Ireland, came to Canada at an early age, growing up in North York. Lorraine was a loving Sister, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. The unconditional love and support she provided has no parallel. Lorraine left a lasting impression on every single person she ever met. If you knew her, you loved her, to say she was memorable is an understatement. Lorraine lit up every room she walked into with the love and warmth in her smile. She was so, so kind and generous.
For Steph, Lorraine was the ultimate role model. The epitome of what a great Mom should be, she has learned everything she knows about being a Mom from Lorraine. Steph could always ask a question and know she was getting the most honest of answers from Lorraine. Lorraine was always there, from Steph’s childhood to motherhood, Lorraine was there. Lorraine was always Steph’s soft place to land. She made the darkest days brighter.
From birth Steve was the Ultimate Momma’s boy, Steve was Lorraine’s “Favourite Son”. She nurtured and loved Steve in exactly the way he needed to be. Lorraine picked Steve up when he was down. She was his biggest fan, always on the sideline making sure Steve knew just how special and loved he was.
Lorraine was not only the Mom Sandi wanted to be, but she was Sandi’s best-friend. They shared everything. They spent many nights talking on the phone into the wee hours, laughing, crying just enjoying each other’s company. Lorraine wasn’t just Sandi’s Mom, she was her life coach in all things right down to where what pictures should be hung on what wall and what paint colour should be chosen. Sandi will forever remember the beautiful lullabies that were sung to her and will forever hold them close to her heart.
As Grandparents, Russ and Lorraine were involved in every aspect of their Grandchildren’s lives. If it was happening, Grammie and Gramp were there, taking pictures and creating memories. They connected individually with each one of their 7 Grandchildren. As the kids grew and their interests changed, so did Grammie and Gramps. What was important to their Grandchildren was important to them. They were so looking forward to a great grandchild. We all know in our hearts they will continue to watch and cheer for every one of their “Wee Lambs” from the sky’s above.
Russ and Lorraine’s love for each other began with Lorraine’s brother Les who was also Russ’s best friend growing up. Russ, Lorraine, Les and his wife Sue have been lifelong friends, they’ve shared endless good times together. Russ and Lorraine were very proud of their 2 nephews Evan and David, their wives Meagan, Kylie and great nephew and niece Jameson and Harper.
Russ and Lorraine instilled honesty, integrity, a zest for life, passion, truth, loyalty, compassion, love, warmth, strength, and respect in our family. The values they taught us will forever live on and be passed from generation to generation.
Russ and Lorraine’s love story will last forever soulmates in life and now in heaven, God must have a beautiful garden as he only picks the nicest, and his garden just bloomed.
We loved you then, we love you now, we love you eternally...
