Lorraine Jeanette Harris
July 16, 1954 – January 13, 2024
It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we must say goodbye to a greatly beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Lorraine Jeanette Harris.
After a very brave 3 year battle with cancer, Lorraine passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday morning at Georgetown Hospital.
She was born and raised in Belleville by Bill and Gayle Jones along with her siblings, Norm, Kathleen, and Vern. She moved to Mississauga where she met her husband Rob and raised her son Jeremy.
She had a long career in the home and hardware industry. In particular, Lorraine managed a very busy trade showroom at Richelieu Hardware for over 25 years where she was loved by her coworkers and customers alike.
Lorraine loved to spend time in her kitchen preparing legendary meals for her friends and family and most often followed by spirited games of cards. Euchre and cribbage were her preferred ways to take $5 from those who sat opposite of her. Her home reflected welcome and comfort and you can see her in every piece of furniture, art, photos and treasures that fill her beautiful home. It is a collection of a life well lived and loved.
As a friend, Lorraine could always be counted on for support and to offer her help and guidance. Her opinion was always straight to the point and truthful and you seldom had to guess at what she was thinking. Her face would light up when she laughed and she loved to have a good time at home or out with friends.
Lorraine loved to keep active, garden, exercise and go to concerts. Her family was always first in her life and she treasured the time she spent with them. On warm sunny days, she would likely be found fussing or relaxing in their backyard that was their own private oasis that she loved to share with loved ones and their dog Murphy.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Rob, son Jeremy (Lucy), brother Vern, mother-in-law Eleanor Harris, brothers-in-law Darren and Kevin (Patty) and her dog Murphy as well as nieces, nephews and their children. She is predeceased by her parents Gayle and
William Jones and step father George Harris, her brother Norm, her sister Kathleen and father-in-law Norman Harris.
You will always remain in our hearts and memories.
Special note – many heartfelt thanks to Lorraine's health care professionals including Jericho, her nurse for 3 years, her Oncologist, Dr. Yokom, Dr. Faragos and to the nurses and medical team at Georgetown Hospital. Their tireless efforts made Lorraine’s final days as peaceful as could be.
Flowers are welcomed by the Family. If so desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
