In memory of

Lock-Lim Chan 陳樂琳先生

CHAN, LOCK-LIM – Dr. Lock Chan passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on September 23, 2022 at the age of 83. Born in Guangzhou, China at the beginning of World War II, he and his mother moved to Hong Kong in the early 1950s, where he attended Pui Ching Middle School and Chung Chi College, excelling at the sciences. In 1962, he immigrated to North America when he was awarded a prestigious graduate fellowship in polymer science at Dartmouth College under Prof. Walter H. Stockmayer. After completing a PhD in Chemistry at Syracuse University in 1970 and a post-doctoral fellowship at Université de Montréal, he made his home in Toronto where he worked as an innovator in wet strength resins for Borden Chemical until retirement. His family was the most important thing to him and he was a loving husband to Gail and proud father of Adrienne (Bruce) and Ina (Brian). He was a lifelong man of deep faith and served the Chinese Christian community in Toronto as an Elder of the Chinese Presbyterian Church and Deacon of the Toronto Christian Community Church. He dearly loved his grandchildren Isaac, Christopher and Mackenzie. Services will be held at Elgin Mills Funeral and Cremation Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd. East, Richmond Hill, Thursday September 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. EDT. Visitation will precede services at 9 a.m. The funeral will also be streamed.
