It is with great sadness that we announce that Leonard passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024, at the age of 90. He was a strong, fiercely independent person and will be forever remembered fondly by all who knew him. Born in Kitchner in 1934, Leonard lived a full and vibrant life. Leonard was a devoted partner of more than 60 years to Marcelle Duplessis, who survives him. He was a devoted son to Nelson and Mabel Paepcke, predeceased, and a beloved brother to Charles (Jim) Paepcke and Jeannette Avery, who survive him, and to Audrey Brindley, Betty Blouse, and Douglas Paepcke, who predeceased. He was also a cherished uncle by many nieces and nephews, and a dear cousin to many. As a successful business owner, he poured his passion and determination into his work. His entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering commitment allowed him to build a life in Toronto and become a benefactor to many charities. A special thanks to the caregivers who entered Leonard's life in his final months, who provided him with peace and comfort, particularly Phillip who held his hand in his last moments and Samantha who compassionately and with incredible kindness helped guide him through his last chapter. Leonard will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A funeral and burial service will take place Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 10am at York Funeral Centre and Cemetery, North York, Ontario. and a reception will take place immediately following the service.
