In memory of

Lena Kiriakou

July 22, 1938 -  July 27, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lena Kiriakou, on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Kraniona, Greece, in 1938 to her devoted parents Anastasios and Olga Givelas, Lena and her family immigrated to Canada in 1950, proud of their Macedonian heritage.

Lena married her beloved husband, Thomas Kiriakou, in 1958 and enjoyed 59 wonderful years together. Thomas passed away suddenly on August 4th, 2017, and Lena can now rest beside her soulmate. Their marriage was one to be admired, a testament to the beauty of true love. Often seen holding hands and sharing kisses in their car in the parking lot of the Wexford Restaurant, they were inseparable. Lena’s warmth, dedication and love for her family have been an inspiration to all who knew her. She made hundreds of friends and touched countless lives with her kind, witty and fun-loving character. Though she will be dearly missed, we find peace in the thought that Tommy and Lena are together in eternity.

Lena will be cherished and deeply missed by her children, Peggy (Chris) and Jerry (Diane), with whom she shared a special bond, working side by side for over 40 years.

She is treasured by her grandchildren, George (Jolene), Jamie (Jessica), Thomas (Adele), Daniel (Christina), and Anthony, and adored by her great-grandchildren, Natalina, Nathan, Cristian, and Auston.

Lena considered her five grandsons and four great-grandchildren her greatest gifts. She leaves behind a lasting legacy that inspires her family to honor her through their entrepreneurial spirit and continued success.

She will be forever remembered by her extended family.

The family offers a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Amica Unionville for their kindness, care, compassion, and friendship. Lena cherished her time there and we will never forget the wonderful care she received during her final two years of retirement.

In accordance with Lena’s wishes, the family will hold a private funeral service. While we understand that many would have liked to pay their respects in person, we invite you to honor Lena’s memory by making a donation to Hill House Hospice, whose compassionate care in her final days will always be remembered.

Baba thank you for the beautiful memories.
