In memory of

Leah Rose

April 3, 1932 -  October 15, 2023

ROSE, LEAH LILLIAN - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Leah Rose, on the morning of October 15, 2023, in her residence at The Village of Humber Heights, at the age of 91. Born on April 3, 1932, in the French Canadian town of Flin Flon, Manitoba, she was the eldest of 3 children of Cyprien and Mildred Boissonnault.

As a young girl, Leah was always very competitive and liked to play with all the boys instead of the girls.

In 1949 her family had to move in with their Grandmother Malyk in New Toronto, Ontario. As accommodations were very tight, Leah moved in with another family who provided her room and board in Mimico in exchange for looking after their children. While there she continued with her schooling and was able to work at the same time. After completing school she found work as an Administrative Assistant and supported various organizations in that capacity. She met her husband, Roy, when they both worked at the same brokerage firm in downtown Toronto, and was immediately charmed by him. They were married for 47 years from August 16, 1952 until Roy’s death on April 2, 2000. They had three sons and one daughter (Clifton, Maxine, Stephen and Randy) together.

In 1956, Roy and Leah were one of the first ten families to purchase land on Go Home Lake. Over the years a beautiful cottage was developed where many happy times were had by both family and friends.

A very hard worker, Leah always found ways to stretch the family budget. Leah also had a very detailed and creative eye, and she was successful in creating many beautiful pieces of clothing and artwork through her talents in sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery, rug hooking and quilting.

With a passion for travel, Leah was able to visit many countries throughout the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Germany, Switzerland, Jamaica, Egypt, England, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and several U.S.A. states.

Leah is predeceased by her husband, Roy, and leaves behind her children, Clifton (Rejeanne) in Oakville/Mississauga; Maxine (Einhard) in Collingwood; Stephen in Etobicoke, and Randy (Heidi) in Alliston; her grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron), Jordan (Courtney), Katelyn (Will) and Madison; her step grandchildren, Odette and Derrick (Miwako); her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Alora, and Ben; her step great-grandchildren, Jamie-Lee (predeceased), Jessica, Scottie Jr., and Kyrie. Also, her sister, Yvonne (Jerry) and nephews John and Dave in California; and brother, Gary (Lydia) and niece Christine and nephew Marcel in Tottenham.

A combined Visitation/Reception will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., both to take place at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre located at 625 Birchmount Road in Scarborough.
