In memory of

Lauri Mannama

November 22, 1974 -  September 22, 2021

It’s with great regret that we must announce the unexpected passing of Lauri Mannama on September 22, 2021 at 46 years old.

Lauri was the oldest son of parents Raivo and Viia Mannama, beloved older brother to Dan and Mike, loving father to children Mette-Marit and Karl Joosep, Fun Uncle to nephews Cedar, Lumi, Cole and Trent, life partner to Krystine and a great friend to too many other family and friends to list.

Lauri was well liked by everyone he met, and we are all grieving this sudden loss. Lauri will be remembered for his passion for cycling, music and spending quality time with friends. He was one of the smartest people I knew when it came to world history and politics. He loved nature and good coffee. His charisma and charm drew people to him and once you were his friend you had a friend for life. Lauri was most well known for being a helpful, friendly and charismatic Doorman at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. We encourage everyone to upload any pictures you may have of Lauri to this memorial page for everyone to see.

Letters of Love: We are asking anyone who wishes to participate to write Lauri a Letter of Love and bring it with you. We encourage you to put it in with him during the visitation, or if you aren’t comfortable you can give it to someone to put it in for you. None of the letters will be opened or read; they remain private. It’s simply a different way to say goodbye for those that feel it will help with their grieving process.

Please join us for the visitation at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Center at 625 Birchmount Rd, in Scarborough on Thursday September 30th from 9:00-10:45am. The service will begin at 11am, but due to COVID-19 admission is restricted and will sadly be by guest list only. We will however be live-streaming the service for anyone that wishes to observe online. The livestream link will be available at the top of this page at 10:45am. If anyone would like to speak at the service please let us know by emailing us at lauris.funeral@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers we are encouraging donations to help cover the unexpected funeral expenses to lauris.funeral@gmail.com.

Lauri was a charming as well as a very handsome young man. He was always in a good mood and pleasant in a conversation. I remember well how I took him to East York Collegiate to register him as a new student when he arrived from Estonia 30 years ago. Rest in peace, dear Friend.

My deepest condolences to parents Viia and Raivo, his children Mette and Jacob and brothers Dan and Mike

I'm flooded with the copious amounts of laughs and memories we shared over many years. Laurie was like a bother and certainly one of the most intriguing and humorous guys to know. He will be missed dearly, rest in peace.

You were always smiling, had a funny or dirty joke for me and got me through some tough times when my marriage ended. I appreciated your wisdom, your guidance and your loud and boisterous laugh.

You'll be missed big guy. The world is a lesser place without you.
