In memory of

Laura Anne Kennedy

March 5, 1963 -  April 7, 2018

Kennedy, Laura Anne ~ Mimico
April 7, 2018 in her 56th year after a long war but short final battle with cancer.
Wife of 28 years to James Kennedy, mother of son Calvert and daughter Siobhan (deceased). Laura will be forever missed by all including her mother, Audrey Warren of Belleville, siblings Edith (David Easun) ~ Toronto & Jennifer (Cary Gough) ~ Stirling, niece Samantha Gough ~ Fort MacMurray, nephews Graeme (Warren) O'Neill ~ Kingston, Drew Gough ~ Kingston, and Grant O'Neill ~ Kingston. Predeceased by her father, John Warren of Belleville, in-laws Bill and Dolly Kennedy of Etobicoke, and her brother, Mark, of Plainfield. During a short life filled with kindness and generosity to all she encountered, Laura worked tirelessly to help those of special needs. In her early adult years - Laura worked as a counsellor in Picton and Belleville and attended Loyalist College, Belleville, and St Lawrence College, Kingston, then moved to Toronto with Jim. She attended York University to get her B.A. and then University of Toronto for her B.Ed before getting her teaching positions at the Peel District School Board as an elementary teacher. She was a believer in lifelong learning. She was proud to have walked in The Weekend to End Breast Cancer three times. Whether it was helping raise money for books for children, supporting local Mimico Lacrosse as a manager and trainer, or her recent plan to volunteer with the Canadian International Air Show, she could be a hurricane. Family and friends will be received Sunday, April 15th at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga, 905-602-1580 at 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3:00pm. Laura’s signature colour was pink - a colour she loved long before it became an international ribbon symbol of breast cancer awareness. We invite all attendees next weekend to wear something pink in her honour. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Research Fund would be greatly appreciated.
