In memory of
Kitty (Kiki) Tambakis
It is with sadness that we say farewell to Kitty (Kiki) Tambakis of Toronto, Ontario, who passed away on July 16, 2024, in her 98th year after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Constantine (Gus) Tambakis, her brother, Vlassios Marinis, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Barbara Tambakis. Her beloved family cherishes her: sons Basil (Cathy) and George (Suzy) and sister Fofi Dalianis of Athens, Greece. She had endless kisses and hugs for her grandchildren: John (Chloe), Nathaniel, Luke (Alex), Paul, Kloe, and Daphne, great-grandchildren Charlotte, Theo and her nieces and nephews.
Kitty followed her dad and immigrated from Greece to Toronto after the Second World War. Although she intended to bring her father back to Greece, her life changed when she fell in love with and married Gus Tambakis. Together they built a beautiful family and life in their new country. Mom was hard working and industrious. She operated a custom sewing business out of her home, hand-creating beautiful designs for many loyal customers. Kitty’s greatest role though was that of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent homemaker, and her traditional Greek cooking was enjoyed by all. Mom cared for people, and everyone was fond of her loving, vivacious personality. Her house was a meeting place, with regular gatherings for friends and family. Mom and dad were lifelong members of the All-Saints Greek Orthodox Church, in North York. Kitty spent most of her life in Don Mills, and most recently at the Donway Place Retirement Home. We are grateful for the care she received there as well as at the North York General Hospital and Baycrest Palliative Care.
A Visitation will be held at the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Rd., East Gate entrance) on Tuesday, July 23rd, from 10-11 am followed by the funeral at 11 am.
Donations in lieu of flowers are appreciated and may be directed to the North York General or the Baycrest Foundations.
