Kin Shing Chan passed away in Toronto at the age of 66. Born in Hong Kong as the youngest of four brothers, he immigrated to Canada in 1980, beginning a new chapter marked by quiet determination and perseverance. After returning to school and navigating various forms of work, he eventually spent many years in the fashion industry as a pattern maker at Linda Lundström, before later continuing to work independently within the community.
Though reserved by nature, he found deep meaning through his Taoist faith, which became a central part of his life. As a long-time member of his temple, he served as a live-in caretaker and embraced its teachings with dedication. His commitment shaped many of his personal choices, including his decision to become a vegetarian and to participate in religious retreats.
He will be remembered by family, friends, and the temple community to which he gave his time, energy, and heart.
A Taoist ceremony will be held in his honour on June 19, 2025, at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
